Celebrating the upcoming release of our publication "Fishy business in Seattle: Salmon mislabeling fraud in sushi restaurants vs grocery stores" in PLOS ONE. The study will be published on Nov 6, 2024.  

Congrats to Lay Paw (B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology + Honors) and Sara Hartman (B.S in Physiology) on their graduation! It was a privilege to be your research mentor these past 2 years.

Delgado collaborative manuscript is published in CELL. This manuscript discusses the persistent underrepresentation of Latina STEM faculty, and identifies solutions to help retain Latina faculty, especially during the professor tenure and promotion process.

In April 2022, a group of Latina professors came together to honor Dr. Elma Gonzalez (my mentor at UCLA). Dr. Gonzalez was the first Latina to receive her PhD in the Biological Sciences and the first Latina STEM faculty in the University of California system! Together, we brainstormed and discussed the challenges early career Latinas face in STEM. We also came up with possible solutions that can help retain Latinas in the academic pipeline, especially the professor tenure and promotion process. This discussion lead to publication of this collaborative manuscript

The Delgado lab's first research article is now out in early release in the Journal of Virology!!!

Congratulations to Delgado lab alumni, Angie Vazquez, who will be attending University of Colorado - Denver this fall 2023. She will be pursuing a PhD in their Biomedical Sciences Program (BSP)!

Delgado lab releases pre-print of their first research manuscript. Best of all, the study was led by 10 undergraduate student authors!

Madeleine Splattstoesser, senior undergraduate student in the Delgado lab, presents at the Murdock College Science Research Conference in Vancouver, WA. 

Delgado gives keynote presentation on her research and mentoring strategies which promote diversity and inclusion in the sciences at the National Associate of Biology Teachers (NABT) national conference in Indianapolis, IN. 

Delgado presents her research at the SACNAS National Conference in a session titled "Combating Viruses" along side fellow virologist Dr. Daniel Blanco-Melo, Dr. Lupita Montoya, and Dr. Florian Hladik in San Juan, PR.
